Cave Rescue The CRO responds to requests for cave rescue assistance from the Police, and operates primarily within the North Yorkshire, Lancashire, and Cumbria area, although it is available for deployment elsewhere in support of other teams.
The main area includes the very popular and extensive Easegill cave system in addition to the Leck Fell and Kingsdale caves, and Three Peaks area including Gaping Gill. The caves are extremely varied in nature, and range from simple, beginners’ caves to complex multi-pitch systems that are wet and arduous.
For more information about the type of accidents that befall people see the incident Reports 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000.

Although there are usually less cave rescues than mountain rescues in any year, cave rescues are often far more demanding on manpower and equipment.
