FUNDRAISING OFFER!

The Cave Rescue Organisation is offering to share a fund-raising opportunity with people who want to walk Yorkshire’s Three Peaks for their own charity, this summer.

CRO will provide parking, water-stations, checkpoints (with electronic tagging), back up transport, a certificate showing time taken and even a guiding service for those who prefer that. In exchange, each walker will donate the first £50 of sponsorship money to CRO. Given the amount that individuals can sometimes raise by walking the Three Peaks, this is a small price to pay for all the back-up services that, usually, only the larger charities can provide. However, making sure they are fit for the challenge is one thing that only the walkers can do for themselves.

Dave Gallivan, who is co-ordinating the challenge event for the team, said "For many years, CRO has gone to the aid of walkers on the Three Peaks, without direct financial benefit from the challenge – except donations made through the Pen-y-ghent Café. The idea of facilitating the walk for others came from CRO controller Phil Haigh, who died last autumn, before he could see it taken up. We are confident that there are many people who would like to do the Three Peaks as a challenging way of raising money for their favourite charity, if only they had the back-up. By providing that back-up, we can raise funds for CRO’s Depot re-development and help other small charities at the same time."

Entry is by advanced booking only. The walk will be on Saturday 22nd August, starting and finishing on Horton-in-Ribblesdale playing field. Full information and entry form are available on the CRO web-site (www.cro.org.uk) or by sending a s.a.e. to
