EquipmentThe teams equipment is all funded by voluntary donations, replacing our vehicles alone when they reach ten years old costs £9,000 a year at today’s prices. ALL CRO’s equipment is essential to enable the team to conduct the rescues it does and remain on call 24 hours a day 365 days of the year.
This is a major contribution and we are very grateful to them for their generous help. The money that the teams saves by not having to find funds to replace these ropes will help us in many other ways. Our thanks go in particular to Ben Lyon for organising this. CRO are currently trialing a SatMap GPS system. The handheld ruggedised unit displays OS mapping and will be extremely beneficial for example in assisting the team locate obscure cave entrances at times of bad weather or at night. Trials are ongoing but the team is grateful to SatMap for the supply of the equipment.
